An alumnus of College of Engineering Guindy, Chennai, my maritime journey commenced with a year of Marine Engineering training at DMET/Garden Reach Shipbuilders in Calcutta, sponsored by the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI). Joined SCI as a Junior Engineer in 1977, and swiftly rose through the ranks to become Chief Engineer in 1982, serving until 1989 before transitioning to foreign-flagged vessels, ultimately with A.P. Moller Maersk. His extensive sailing career included a stint at Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore (1997-99). Transitioning ashore in 2003, embarked on an academic path, joining AMET University in Chennai in 2004, where he served as HOD of Marine Engineering and later as Dean. Following retirement in 2016, he is now involved in training Marine Engineers for higher competency certifications.
